Posek HaDor, Gadol HaDor and Ma'or Yisrael

On Monday, ג׳ חשון our nation lost it's Gadol HaDor, Rabbi Ovadia Yoseph.
That day, my school, Midreshet Moriah, was on a trip in חברון. In the beginning of our tour we were in a shul. A security guard ran in to tell us to say תהילים for the Rabbi. (He was probably checking the news as he went into a more unstable condition) We said our prayers with great intention and then went on with our tour. A couple of hours later, right before we were about to enter Mearat Hamachpelah, we were informed with the news that the Gadol had died. We had a shiur before we went on, in memory of Rav Yoseph. I can't really say how I felt about this but I'm sure we all had the Rabbi in our prayers as we said mincha where Torah giants Avraham, Yitzchak, Yaakov, Sarah, Rivka and Leah were buried. What was even more eerie was being where these people were.

That night, all meetings, roads, schools, seminaries and Yeshivas were closed for his funeral. I had the honor of being able to attend and it was a crazy experience. There is so much to say about it.
It was extremely moving to hear big rabbis get on the loudspeaker and cry their hearts out about our nation's loss.
It was such an emotional experience. So many people were crying. They were screaming out about how we are now orphans.
It was mind blowing to see how many people were there. I have never seen so many people in my life. And even crazier, they were all Jewish! A seventh of a country condensed in just one area of Jerusalem.
It was beautiful to see the אחדות that came out of such a tragedy. Although we wish everyone can come together for happy occasions, any אחדות is good to see.
From the minute we walked out of school, every street was packed
